100 Strong
Hundred Strong is the alter ego of Bristol producer Ben Dubuisson, who has been producing and recording since the early nineties. During this period and up until today Dubuisson has also been DJing both here and abroad.
From a dark basement in central Bristol Dubuisson has recorded releases for influential labels including Cup of Tea and Hombre records as well as mixing tracks for such leftfield luminaries as RJD2 and Dynamo Productions. Recent production work has been for rising London/Chicago label Altered Vibes and has featured collaborations with noted artists such as Joseph Malik, Alison Crockett and Victor Davies.
Working on his second Hundred Strong LP for release in Feb 2005 Dubuisson has also drawn upon the talents of labelmates Def Harmonic. Titled Basement Blues, the new LP draws upon many influences to create a record heavily influenced by the soulful side of hip-hop as well as songs based around 60’s and 70’s grooves.
Recent singles have raised the profile of both the label and Hundred Strong itself with plays on such influential shows as Gilles Peterson worldwide and great reviews across many ares of press.
In the DJ field Dubuisson has for many years been Saturday night resident at Bristol club the Dojo Lounge as well as making regular appearances at likeminded clubs nationwide. These include Friends and Family in Manchester and Catskills night in Brighton.
Internationally Dubuisson has played at many of the big fetivals in Europe including Sonar in Barcelona and Glastonbury in the Uk.
Adding to these dates Dubuisson has also undertaken many tours of the USA and Canada resulting in a broad and eclectic approach to DJing. Recently Dubuisson has drawn on all these influences to start hip-hop /beats label High Noon with well received releases by artists as diverse as Boca 45/Mckay and Hombre Stalwarts Onecut now called Western Roots.
